Advancing Inclusion: Highlights from the DIGITABILITY Multiplier Event in Athens

On October 17, 2024, Athens hosted the DIGITABILITY Multiplier Event, a gathering dedicated to enhancing digital skills and promoting employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Supported by the Erasmus+ initiative, this event brought together vocational education and training (VET) providers, SMEs, and other stakeholders to explore tools and strategies aimed at improving digital accessibility and fostering a more inclusive workforce.

The event opened with an introduction to the DIGITABILITY project’s mission: to empower people with disabilities by equipping them with the digital skills needed for remote work, as well as to provide VET providers and SME associations with tools to effectively meet the training needs of this group.

Attendees then explored each of the project’s core outcomes. These included a comprehensive State Analysis Report that highlighted current trends and challenges, an adaptable Educational Package, the Open Learning Platform for accessible learning, and a DIGITABILITY certificate.

An engaging discussion followed, where participants discussed both the challenges and opportunities of enhancing digital accessibility in the workforce. Experts and attendees shared insights into creating sustainable digital pathways for people with disabilities, underscoring the importance of equipping both trainers and trainees with targeted digital competencies.

The event wrapped up with a networking session, allowing participants to connect, share insights, and discuss potential collaborations. Marking a significant milestone for the DIGITABILITY project, this event emphasized the need for inclusive digital skill-building to support a workforce that’s both skilled and resilient, paving the way for greater employment opportunities for people with disabilities across Europe.
