CARE C2 – Blended Mobility of Learners

International Training in Cagliari

In October 2024, as part of the European initiative “CARE: Ceramic Artworks to Raise Esteem and Employability,” a week-long training event was held in Cagliari, Italy, bringing together over 90 participants, including visually impaired youth, trainers, and ceramists from Greece, Poland, Cyprus, Ireland, and Italy. This dynamic event, hosted by IERFOP with support from partners across Europe (Cyprus, Ireland, Poland), focused on empowering visually impaired participants through hands-on ceramic workshops.

Each day introduced new skills, with participants learning clay techniques, glazing, and collaborative artmaking, all aimed at building self-confidence and inspiring creativity.

Midweek, participants visited the Sound Garden Museum, exploring multisensory exhibits that combined sound and sculpture, broadening their understanding of artistic expression. The week concluded with the presentation of participants’ ceramic artworks, each unique expression of their learning and growth. The event demonstrated how inclusive, skill-based training can foster personal development and open new pathways for visually impaired individuals in the arts, cultivating both community and confidence among young creators.
